Presidential Candidate Andrew Yang Speaking at Monetery
Entrepreneurs know there are things you can control and things you can’t. For the things you can’t, what matters is how you respond.
Andrew Yang knows how to respond. Through his varied career Yang has been a law school graduate, startup founder, CEO, investor and founder of Venture for America, a fellowship program helping cultivate entrepreneurs — creating more than 2,500 jobs in cities across the United States.
Yang is currently a candidate for the 2020 Democratic nomination for president and will be a speaker at Monetery, sharing his experience as a tech entrepreneur and investor on stage at the premier tech summit in the Midwest.
“Andrew has such an impressive resume and really has a unique approach to how tech and policy can work together,” says Stephanie Atkin, Dwolla’s VP of Marketing. “If our ecosystem is to thrive, we’ll need both of these areas working together. I’m excited to learn from Andrew at Monetery.”
While Yang is a political outsider, he’s making national headlines with his policy proposals. He’s a proponent of Universal Basic Income, a form of social security guaranteeing a certain amount of money to every citizen in a country. His proposal is for the United States to pay all U.S. citizens over the age of 18 $1,000 per month. This, along with Medicare For All and Human-Centered Capitalism construct the three core pillars of the Yang presidential campaign.
Yang adds to the star-studded speaker lineup at Monetery on May 21–22 in downtown Des Moines. Joining Yang is Sherri Davidoff, CEO of LMG Security & BrightWise, Inc., Matthew Prince, CEO of Cloudflare and Martina Lauchengco, Operating Partner at Costanoa Ventures — among others.
We can’t control our own success, but we can ensure we’re giving ourselves the best opportunities to be successful. Attending Monetery is one of those opportunities.
